The Prescribing Process

Here is exactly how the Zera Health prescribing process works, step by step:

Step 1 — Complete Your Health Assessment

You complete a detailed online health intake form including medical history, current medications, vital signs, and relevant health information. This takes approximately 5–10 minutes.

Step 2 — Provider Review

An independent licensed provider reviews your complete intake within 24–48 hours. The provider evaluates your eligibility based on clinical criteria and may request additional information or labs.

Step 3 — Online Consultation

Your provider conducts an online consultation (synchronous video or asynchronous messaging, depending on your state's requirements) to discuss your health goals, medical history, and treatment options.

Step 4 — Prescription Decision

The provider makes an independent clinical determination about whether to prescribe. If approved, a prescription is sent electronically to a licensed pharmacy. Providers may decline to prescribe if they determine it is not clinically appropriate.

Step 5 — Pharmacy Fulfillment

Your prescription is filled by a licensed, accredited compounding or retail pharmacy. Medications are shipped in temperature-controlled packaging directly to your address. Most shipments arrive within 3–7 business days.

Step 6 — Ongoing Care

Your provider monitors your progress through regular check-ins. Dosage adjustments are made based on your response to treatment. You have 24/7 access to your care team through the patient portal.

Pharmacy Partners

Zera Health works with multiple accredited, state-licensed compounding pharmacies. All pharmacy partners are PCAB-accredited or meet equivalent quality standards. Pharmacy information specific to your prescription is provided in your patient portal.
